USE YOUR SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION

Influenced by the theory ‘The Sociological Imagination’ by sociologist C. Wright Mills. This theory identifies ‘troubles’ as being perosnal struggles, and ‘issues’ as being wider societal issues that contribute to the personal ‘troubles’. Once people become aware of the issues, they no longer feel like individuals and instead act as a collective.

Inspired by the Graphic Emergency Tumblr page for Polish political poster design, these posters are aimed at artists and designers, encouraging them to use politics in their designs in a way that can make a difference.

I created a collection of A3 screen printed and risograph posters that represent the sociological imagination through illustrations and metaphors, acting as a call of action to designers (to ‘use your sociological imagination’).
